“Metaphor is the lifeblood of all art, if it is not art itself.” – Twyla Tharp
Each of us comes to the world, takes a look, and sees something a little different from what our neighbour sees. And what each of us sees is precious and worth sharing. The painter uses colours to show her neighbours what she sees. The musician uses sounds and movement to show his neighbours what he sees. The storyteller uses words and lies to tell the truths he sees.
Story is something powerful. The greatest of Men used it to show his world to his friends. Each religion uses it to try to uncover the mysteries of nature – human and Divine. So with a certain feeling of humility I come to pick up my pen. I may fancy myself a scribe, but I’m reasonably sure I’m illiterate.
But I’ll tell you stories anyway. And I’ll try my hand at reviewing those that others have told me. Maybe you’ll see a bit of the world as I see it. Maybe not. At least I pray that you will be entertained. And, if you fancy yourself a scribe like me, encouraged. Because even someone illiterate like me has the power to pull back the curtain and show a sliver of glory to his neighbours.
I nominated you for the Liebster Blog Award. It was recently bestowed upon me, and I am paying it forward. Love your blog. http://peggyisaacs.com/2011/12/26/an-award-for-me/
